Archeologists such as Jarred Diamond, the author of ââ¬Å"Guns, Germs, and Steelâ⬠, place the first humans in Madagascar as the Austronesian people from Indonesia around 500BC. Over the next several years the French and the English attempted settlements and control on Madagascar but fail ed miserably, one memorable Christmas day 1672 local tribe members attacked Fort Dauphine (the current French colony) brutally and purposefully killing fourteen men and thirteen women. This massacre is rumored to have been because these fourteen men deserted and divorced native Malagasy women in order to marry younger and purer French women. This battle lasted a long eighteen months as the French remained barricaded in their fort while the angry tribal members raged battle. In 1674 thirty remaining men and the one widow were saved by the arrival of the French East India Company. Even though that is how many views it today, a different prospective. But is Al-Jazeera really that different from the BBC and other news agencies? When we look at the stories and material they publish we can see that it is not that different. Their websites features the same stories. So why is Al-Jazeera considered so controversial? In my own opinion the reason it is viewed as controversial maybe that it comes from a part of the world where a free speaking news agency is rare to come by. We clearly appreciate a ââ¬Å"free pressâ⬠news agency from the Middle East, and especially one that is also available in English. Considering the fact that Al-Jazeera receive funding and is owned by powerful people with big money, or even governments, it would be naive to think that Al-Jazeera would remain uninfluenced by these forces. The Al-Jazeera satellite channel is actually owned by the state of Qatar. We will write a custom essay sample on A New Perspective? or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page How can it be unaffected by that? And considering the chairman of Al-Jazeera the enterprise, Sheikh Hamad bin Thamir Al Thani also is the former Deputy Minister of Qatar we cannot say that Al-Jazeera is a news agency without government ties. But a large news agency like Al-Jazeera need government ties to be able to report the news accurately in some areas. So that can work both ways. Al-Jazeeras popularity rose fast with the war in Iraq, so in 2003 they hired their first English speaking journalist. And shortly after, in March 2003, an English website was up and running. In 2005 Al-Jazeera International had expanded, and they had opened a series of broadcasting centers all over the world, including London, Kuala Lumpur and Washington D. C. More and more people from all over the world could now enjoy what Al-Jazeera had to offer. And as they expanded they started looking more and more like already existing news agencies. Iââ¬â¢m sure the original idea was to create an independent and different new agency. But with time Al-Jazeera has been corrupted by the modern capitalistic society we live in. I wonââ¬â¢t go as far as saying it was corrupted by capitalism, because Al-Jazeera is not making any money, but some people will always benefit from what they are doing. Al-Jazeera is clearly not as independent and controversial as people are made to believe and maybe Al-Jazeera themselves believe. I would like to ask the question, is there really such a thing as a completely independent and uninfluenced news agency? I am in no way, shape or form trying to undermine the importance of a free press and Al-Jazeera as a news agency. Freedom of speech is one of the most important things in our society today, and I consider Al-Jazeera a credible source of information. Al-Jazeera is an organization of good journalists and reporters.

The Zara model looks rather sustainable, as it covers several layers of population. Clothes manufacturing plays one of the key market roles in the global business industry. Since it has made use of many employees from different countries, Zaraââ¬â¢s success is obvious.Advertising We will write a custom case study sample on ZaraCloth Case Study specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More It is not uncommon when a country of lower economic development produces goods for a nation that is well established and the economy is high, so this should be made the case with this company, which will allow taking business to even more countries. Because the garment industry is particularly a developing field that has seen a great demand in the past decades, Zara has a lot of room to develop and innovate. It is understandable that the economics, market value and differences between products and services all play a role in who gets employment and what so rt of company becomes the partner. When looking at economics, there are few things to have in mind. Different countries and nations have different economies. The system of trade and relations between businesses are guided by culture and society. Some places have better economies, so in order to stay successful, Zara must adjust to the locality and peopleââ¬â¢s economical conditions. The market is also different. There are certain things that people need, so the demand on the market is special for every country. Globalization has majorly impacted business and the differences can be seen as well. Some countries are becoming over developed with abundant clothes supply and thus, competition is one of the major determinants of direction (Jennings 4). Familiarization with other companies will allow for the adjustment of own production. One of the keys for business development is making sure that the demand is high. The international business has made its way to many countries and so, a close connection with peopleââ¬âboth employees and the population must be upheld to the highest standards. The intertwined relationship between the suppliers in a country, the working conditions and the superpowers or other well developed regions of the world show that the mutual dependence of the companyââ¬â¢s internal structure and business environment determines success.Advertising Looking for case study on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Since sometimes the pressures for local responsiveness are low, taking the business to other places will guarantee stable income and product or service flow for the specific group of people. It is obvious that with such global organization, countries that are more developed will continue receiving their products, as the need is always present, while the conditions oversees might be very poor. It is important to consider the reality of economies and conditions i n the country and adjust to the society (Bruce 15). Also, a business must have unique features, as it gives an opportunity to do something special, which no one has done before. An aggressive approach makes the company stand out in a market filled with ideas. An existing idea can be made better, if it will be based on something concrete but at the same time, belong only to oneself. The present economy in the world makes owning a business very risky, so careful research of the future social changes and industry must be made. Design of an organization also plays an important role in the market. The structural design of a business relates to how a business functions and the internal working and manipulations of the necessary systems. To compete with others, the design must be enhanced through innovation, but there are cases when past styles or techniques are used. Overall, the stability within the company will transfer over to the market and ensure stable clients. One of the indicators of success for Zara is its involvement with the local population. As it already has experience with peopleââ¬â¢s visual demands for clothes, the same can be said about the home goods field. The company has knowledge of the functional appeal of products and services, so the change of direction is not completely different from the previous one. The design of products that are used to perform some sort of function can be observed through the engineering ideas put into the product. The management has shown that designing more useful, functioning and appealing product is the main goal. As a result, the connection with the population will be kept through similar techniques. The visual design also presents a great deal about the organization, as it sends out a message of what the business is involved in and how it plans to deliver best and most useful service or products (Pride 23). Decorating clothes needs a lot of imagination and ability to understand how to mix visual appeal and fun ctionality.Advertising We will write a custom case study sample on ZaraCloth Case Study specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In the home goods field, the same requirements are present, and many things from previous experience can be united with the new field. There is some risk in relation to the changing economy and the priorities that people set. As there is a decline in the employment, people might put a hold on the dà ©cor of the homes, so an area for the business must be chosen wisely. Works Cited Bruce, Margaret. Biography of Amalasuntha, Queen of the Ostrogoths We have three sources for the details of Amalasunthas life and rule: the histories of Procopius, the Gothic History of Jordanes (a summary version of a lost book by Cassiodorus), and the letters of Cassiodorus. All were written shortly after the Ostrogothic kingdom in Italy was defeated. Gregory of Tours, writing in the later 6th century, also mentions Amalasuntha. Procopius version of events, however, has many inconsistencies. In one account Procopius praises the virtue of Amalasuntha; in another, he accuses her of manipulation. In his version of this history, Procopius makes the Empress Theodora complicit in Amalasunthas death but he is often focused on depicting the Empress as a great manipulator. Known for: ruler of the Ostrogoths, first as regent for her sonDates: 498-535 (reigned 526-534)Religion:à Arian ChristianAlso known as: Amalasuentha, Amalasvintha,à Amalasvente, Amalasontha, Amalasonte, Queen of the Goths, Queen of the Ostrogoths, Gothic Queen, Regent Queen Background and Early Life Amalasuntha was the daughter of Theodoric the Great, king of the Ostrogoths, who had taken power in Italy with the support of the eastern emperor. Her mother was Audofleda, whose brother, Clovis I, was the first king to unite the Franks, and whose wife, Saint Clotilde, is credited with bringing Clovis into the Roman Catholic Christian fold. Amalasunthas cousins thus included the warring sons of Clovis and Clovis daughter, also named Clotilde, who married Amalasunthas half-nephew, Amalaric of the Goths. She was apparently well educated, speaking Latin, Greek, and Gothic fluently. Marriage and Regency Amalasuntha was married to Eutharic, a Goth from Spain, who died in 522. They had two children; their son was Athalaric. When Theodoric died in 526, his heir was Amalasunthas son Athalaric. Because Athalaric was only ten, Amalasuntha became regent for him. After Athalarics death while still a child, Amalasuntha joined forces with the next closest heir to the throne, her cousin Theodahad or Theodad (sometimes called her husband in accounts of her rule). With the advice and support of her minister Cassiodorus, who had also been an advisor to her father, Amalasuntha seems to have continued a close relationship with the Byzantine emperor, now Justinian as when she permitted Justinian to use Sicily as a base for Belisarius invasion of the Vandals in North Africa. Opposition by the Ostrogoths Perhaps with Justinians and Theodahads support or manipulation, Ostrogoth nobles opposed Amalasunthas policies. When her son was alive, these same opponents had protested her giving her son a Roman, classical education, and instead had insisted that he receive training as a soldier. Eventually, the nobles rebelled against Amalasuntha, and exiled her to Bolsena in Tuscany in 534, ending her reign. There, she was later strangled by relatives of some men she had earlier ordered killed. Her murder probably was undertaken with her cousins approval Theodahad may have had reason to believe that Justinian wanted Amalasuntha removed from power. The Gothic War But after Amalasunthas murder, Justinian sent Belisarius to launch the Gothic War, retaking Italy and deposing Theodahad. Amalasuntha also had a daughter, Matasuntha or Matasuentha (among other renderings of her name). She apparently married Witigus, who briefly reigned after Theodahads death. She was then married to Justinians nephew or cousin, Germanus, and was made a Patrician Ordinary. Gregory of Tours, in his History of the Franks, mentions Amalasuntha and tells a story, which is most likely not historical, of Amalasuntha eloping with a slave who was then killed by her mothers representatives and then of Amalasuntha killing her mother by putting poison in her communion chalice. Procopius About Amalasuntha An excerpt from Procopius of Caesaria: The Secret History How Theodora treated those who offended her will now be shown, though again I can give only a few instances, or obviously there would be no end to the demonstration. When Amasalontha decided to save her life by surrendering her queendom over the Goths and retiring to Constantinople (as I have related elsewhere), Theodora, reflecting that the lady was well-born and a Queen, more than easy to look at and a marvel at planning intrigues, became suspicious of her charms and audacity: and fearing her husbands fickleness, she became not a little jealous, and determined to ensnare the lady to her doom.

Concealed carry Laws in Illinois vs other states like texas - Term Paper Example Later, as the crime rate in public increased by the assailants, many states passed law for concealed carry to prevent individuals from such criminals. Many States in America have recognized the need of concealed carry and subsequent legislations were made. However, in the state of Illinois the bill of concealed carry was not passed in the Assembly even though there are strong demands from people to legalize concealed carry in the state of Illinois. In Illinois the state had taken ample measures for the control of gun. Jens Ludwig and Philip J. Cook in their work Evaluating gun Policy deal elaborately with Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card which the gun owners need to gain. It prevents the spread of gun among the civilians of the state. The owners can resell their guns to only those with valid FOID card holders. Moreover, they have implemented gun control in the state through radical measures. Thus, it can be seen that the Illinois system ââ¬Å"provides gun owners with an inc entive to verify a buyerââ¬â¢s eligibility status and to resist requests to serve as straw purchaser for friends and family who are ineligibleâ⬠(Ludwig & Cook, 2003, p. 10). This paper explores a study on the laws prevailing in the state of Illinois regarding the concealed carry, and further, an attempt is made to make a comparative study with other states in America as well. The laws connected with the carrying of firearms in public turned to be a matter of dispute among the states in America. Some states argue for concealed carry and they have made laws in favor of it, whereas the states like Illinois and Wisconsin have objected the notion. To many in Illinois concealed carry seem to a mere dream whereas people in most of the other states are privileged with this freedom. The state laws do not support concealed carry. Among the states 48 support concealed carry. The states that do not allow the citizens to carry a concealed hand gun are Illinois, Wisconsin and the Distric t of Columbia. Even though some relaxations are made in Wisconsin and in the District of Columbia, Illinois stands stubborn in the decision of not permitting the concealed carry. To quote governor of Illinois Pat Quinnââ¬â¢s words: ââ¬Å"If you're going to the grocery store, you bump into somebody accidentally they take offense and they could pull out a loaded handgun to assuage their angerâ⬠(Governor to Veto Concealed Weapons? 2011).
